Dearth For the Word

Yesterday, Wednesday, 12th May 2021, as I ended live streaming. A man almost knocked me over in the crowd by  grabbed me, as if by the hem of my garment. “Sir! I want to be saved!”

Every Wednesday at 17:30 (CAT) I apply the bible on a location. It’s on location, to give a practical applicable lesson just like Jesus did. It’s directed to members of the fellowship and public, in this gathering restrained Covid era.
Jesus taught on location; about fishing while they fished, on Galilee (Lule 5). He taught on water at a well, in Sychar (John 4). He taught resurrection, at a tomb and he raised Lazarus from the dead and so on (John 11).

Yesterday even today, I sensed a looming hunger. Worst still, a possible misinterpretation of the hunger and water thirst. This may lead to substituting water for numerous fizzy fluids available on the market now. It’s very easy to go off chassing after things that don’t satisfy.

God said, “… I will send a famine through the land– not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD (Amos 8:11)
Covid has left people as in Joel’s term, Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision ( 3:14).

This indiscision, may be attributed to the absence to familiar, public, well established voices who are no longer heard in campaigns to provide guidance. Billy Graham is gone born November 1918, died February 2018. He was in Kitwe Zambia February 1960. On moral grounds, he initially refused invitation to South Africa due to segregation policy then.

Rhinehart Bonnke is no more born April 1940 died December 2019. Leaving a legacy of spiritual sons and  evangelism methods in Africa like no one in history. He held his outreaches in the world largest tent of 34,000 capacity from the initial 7,000 seater big yellow tent which arrived at Buchi, Kitwe, in 1981 consequently hundreds of thousands and ober a million in one service with signs and miracles following.

Musical legends, Andrea Crouch is gone, 1942-2015. Who has not sang his compositions, Soon and very soon, To God be the glory etc. Keith Green, 1953-1982.  George Beverly Shea, “America’s beloved gospel singer” 1909-2013.  Arguably considered, “the first international singing ‘star’ of the gospel world.” The booming voice that ushered Billy Graham to the crusade pulpit.
These and many others, are no more. Global references, voices with impeccable background.

If such a void takes hold, God forbid, the proverbial drowning man grasps to a straw, can set in.

Luke 11:24 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person [I dare say, even a nation], it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’
v.25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.
v.26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person [nation] is worse than the first.”

Nevertheless, back to my Wednesday experience. After our crudely set up live streaming yesterday, a man run up to me, “I want to be saved… and stop the wickedness I am involved in.”

My thought was, people need and are yearn for the Lord’s direction.  If we had not come, who knows, he would have missed heaven.

I thought, it’s time to passed the bread of truth with the water of life. Spiritually hungry people are searching for guidance from stewards Christ entrusted to distribute.

The toiling fishermen don’t know where to fish after a fruitless night. The thirsty, troubled woman at the well, went for a drink that never satisfies. With shame it was at midday when no one was looking.

The bereaved, family of ” todays Lazarus” need to know the resurrection power in their midst.

…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).
…and a brother is born for a time of adversity (Proverbs 17:17).
…And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

We’ve got to go to “Galilee fishing” spot, children need to know where to cast their nets after a night of fruitless toil.

We got to go to the well at Sychar guide the messed up lonely community reject. We got to visit the moaning “Lazarus” tomb. His siblings have lost sense that resurrections is in the living Jesus.
